It was a looong evening at the Sullivan Arena, but it never got boring listening to the excitement and anticipation of musher after musher drawing their bib numbers out of a beautiful mukluk on stage. Most paused for a moment or two to thank family, friends, and sponsors. Some took full advantage of the alloted time to share memories, tell stories, or warn the competition that they were serious this year. A few merely announced their bib number and headed offstage for their official photo and a long line of signing their name and greeting fans. I was too busy shooting video footage to track the starting number positions - Lance pulled out bib #6 - and I can’t find a listing yet at the Iditarod or ADN sites…
I’ll be out shooting again today, tomorrow, and Sunday at the Re-Start, but after that I should be able to get some good video clips posted here from last night. There were some very memorable moments!
